Yoga 101

Our Instructors

JenniJenni Casten-Juhl

Jenni began practicing yoga in 2004 as a way to get back in shape after her daughter was born. She was hooked from the very beginning. “It is such an awesome way to keep in great shape, relieve stress and have some me time. I have truly never felt healthier then I do now and I know I owe it all to my yoga practice.” She began teaching at Yoga 101 in 2006. She feels blessed that she can share yoga with others and is inspired by all of the other instructors and practioners who have reaped so many benefits from their yoga practice.

Kathy Freisinger

Kathy began practicing yoga as a means to alleviate her pain from arthritic hips and various medications for her condition. “I treated myself to a yoga class on my 50th birthday and I’ve been practicing two to three times a week ever since.” Kathy began teaching four years later and received her 200 hour yoga alliance teacher certification in 2006. Kathy is now pain free, medication free and feels compelled to share her positive yoga experience with others.

We broke up but my yoga practice stayed intact and I’ve been practicing ever since.” April started teaching in 2003 and received her 200 hour certification through Yoga Alliance in 2006. Practicing yoga is now a way of life for April. “Yoga has made such a profound change in my life and I feel like I have to share it with others.”

Mark

Mark Goltiao

Mark was an avid gymnast as a young boy, but days of working long hours and eating junk food as a young adult lead to overweight issues. Mark started practicing yoga in 2000 as a means to lose weight and get back into the sport of gymnastics which he loved. Along the way, he found yoga to be an excellent counterpoint to the impactful nature of gymnastics. Mark studied Power Yoga with Cindi Bersinger and Mark White, and Anusara Yoga with Didier Razon, in Jacksonville, Florida. Mark brings athletic as well as spiritual aspects to practice at Yoga101. He challenges students with his corny jokes, hoping to make them realize that yoga can be light-hearted. Mark is also a professional member, and safety certified, with the USA Gymnastics Organization.

Beth F.

Beth Franklin

“Yoga has changed my life profoundly, not only physically but spiritually as well. During a crisis point in my life I had the thought that I should go to Yoga 101” Beth signed up for one month and ended up going everyday. “That was beginning of a whole new life for me.” Beth began teaching in early 2008 and finished her training in 2009 for her 200 hour teacher certification through Yoga Alliance.

Sarah Gard

Sarah Gard

Sarah began practicing yoga in 2008 after a friend bought her a gift certificate. “I was working a very emotionally exhausting job at the time I began practicing yoga and found a huge relief from the everyday stress I was experiencing. At that time I realized that yoga was where I needed to be. I began to love yoga so much that I decided to start teaching less than a year later. I have seen so many benefits physically and mentally since practicing. I absolutely love to see the same benefits and transformations in my students. ” Sarah started teaching yoga in 2009 and recently finished her 200 hour Certification through Yoga Alliance in April 2010. Sarah holds a B.S. in Psychology and when she is not teaching yoga, she works full time for the Evansville-Vanderburgh School Corporation working with at-risk students.

Nicole

Nicole Tibbs

I discovered Hot Yoga in the summer of 2000. I fell in love with the practice instantly. No other form of exercise had ever brought to the surface so much of who I am. All of my Strengths and weaknesses were laid before me within my first few classes. Although I first began because of the physical challenge that it presented I discovered very quickly how all encompassing this practice is. I discovered myself. I reconnected with my spirit as I became more in tune with my body. In 2001, I spent 9 weeks in Los Angeles at the Bikram's Yoga College of India for my first Yoga teacher training and over the next few years I had the opportunity to to travel with my teacher Jimmy Barkan, assisting him at posture clinics and workshops. I love teaching students of all levels and get so excited witnessing other people experience the life changing transformational power of this practice!

Dan

Dan Brandon

I began practicing yoga in 2005, as a complement to cardio and strength training. My wife got me a gift certificate to try out hot yoga; kept coming back due to the benefits of the workout and the quality of the instructors. I found that my practice improved my flexibility and helped me control my weight. I love the physical nature of the exercise and the benefits of a great sweat, and the fact that I can truly see progress the more time I devote to my practice. I really feel the importance of keeping the practice fun and having an open and light heart while putting in the work and I want to convey that to the students in my classes. I began teaching in 2010 and I continue to learn new things everytime I step into a yoga class as a student as well as an instructor. I am very excited to take this next step on my yoga journey.

She also did Core Power teacher traing in Ft. Collins, CO in 2008. “The more I do and learn the more I am intrigued and want to know-----the sky's the limit!! The changes from the inside out are priceless.”

Julie

Julie Antey

In the Spring of 2003 my mom called to tell me about a new exercise she had taken up, Hot Yoga. Many calls and much persuasion later, I went for my first class. By the end of my first week I was hooked. Six months later I found myself on a plane headed for teacher training. I completed Jimmy Barkan's 5 week intensive teacher training/certification program in November of '03. I have been practicing, teaching, and learning since then. I am amazed and grateful for all the benefits I have received through practicing yoga and it is my passion to share its bounty of benefits with anyone who is willing to give it a try.
